About Gabe LePage

Gabe LePage is a graduate of Yale Divinity School and Yale School of the Environment, holding a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Environmental Management, with a specialization in People, Equity, and the Environment. His undergraduate degrees were in International Development Studies and Geography at Calvin College. He has experience in urban forestry programs, urban agriculture, community gardening, and Asset Based Community Development. He was an Urban Garden intern at ECHO in 2018, and spent 5 months with ECHO Asia in Thailand. Trained in systems thinking and participatory organizing, he believes in the ways that community-led greenspaces and gardens build the social fabric of our neighborhoods, reduce isolation, and build trust for addressing larger systemic issues. He is on track to become a priest in the Episcopal Church and sees God's redeeming work in the world as central to the healing of people and the land.

Agriculture in North America: Mission, Conquest, and Flourishing

What has been the role of agriculture in North America and what forces have shaped land access and growing food and cash crops? How have these outcomes compared with biblical visions of Jubilee and Shalom? Looking at historical examples of agriculture in North America and their social and environmental impacts measured against a biblical vision of shalom, this talk explores paths towards flourishing in agricultural missions.
